Silent Embrace grew out of a fascination with the way urban space directs and conditions the human body. In contemporary cities, architecture is increasingly deployed as an instrument of regulation: benches that cannotbe lain on, fences that channel movement, obstacles that discourage lingering.

This hostile architecture is not neutral design, but a spatial expression of social and economic choices. The short film Silent Embrace approaches this subject not through analysis or explanation, but through the body. By means of choreography and physical interaction with the built environment, it becomes visible how people constantly adapt to structures that were not designed for them. The city is not a backdrop, but an active counterforce.

The urgency of this project lies in the fact that these forms of exclusion are becoming increasingly visible in Amsterdam - the city where the film was shot.
